Liver for everyone

Xander has been learning the Pledge of Allegiance to prepare for Kindergarten. It only took him a few days to learn it but he says liverty instead of liberty. Liverty and Justice for all, indeed.

15 years

Today is the 15th anniversary of my first date with Tina. I had taken her to Good Eats Cafe for 2-for-1 chicken fried steak night, so to commemorate the occasion, we went to Hoover's Cooking (the original chef for the now defunct Good Eats). Since the boys kept asking to go on a date with us, we took them along, which made it less of a date.

After dinner, we went to the LBJ fountain on UT's campus. That's where we were when I asked Tina out for the first time.

The password has changed

Now Duncan says "Squeek, Squeek, Squeek" when he is finished pooing. It is getting hard to keep track.

No more diapers?

Duncan has been day time potty trained for awhile, since we went to Disney, but he was still wearing a diaper at night. Last week, he said (whined) that he did not want to wear a diaper to bed, he wanted to hear his underwear. So we took the rail off his bed (so he could easily get out of bed if he had to go pee) and put him in underwear. So far so good - no accidents and no falling out of bed! Duncan was much easier to potty train than Xander. Maybe because he is a different kid, or because he was a little older (we let him do it at his pace) or because we had already done it once before with Xander - or maybe a combo of the three.

R2D2 Mailbox

We found the R2-D2 mailbox at 5th and Congress.

PNO

aka, Parents Night Out.

The preschool opens for the night and for $35 (for both boys) the boys are watched for 5 hours and entertained by people we totally trust (their school teachers) with their friends. They get pizza and watch movies and have a blast.

Bheeshmar and I usually go to the Alamo Drafthouse to eat dinner and see a movie, but nothing was playing that we wanted to see this weekend. Last weekend we went to David's wedding, but it was so cold (30 degrees and outside) that we could not enjoy getting dressed up. So we got dressed up again this weekend and went out to eat at the Driskill Grill at the Driskill Hotel - great food and great service and very fancy. I had lobster salad, duck ravioli and wagyu striploin. Bheeshmar had bacon (porkbelly) and (quail) egg salad, smoked quail, and braised short ribs. The best part for me was the homemade candy and milkshake (in a shot glass) for dessert. It is nice to act like an adult sometimes.

Did you know that

Duncan says "cock-a-doodle-do" when he is done pooping and needs to be wiped?
