More Update

As Bheesh said, we painted our bedroom yesterday (plain beige - the color is really called Interactive Cream). It went a lot quicker that I expected and I'm not sore or tired today (yeah). We still need to get the drywall patched in the front room and then get the rest of the house painted, but we are going to hire someone to do this work - maybe next year.

We got Xander's new bed (bottom of a bunk bed) last weekend. Now he sleeps in a big boy bed with no rails. I still worry that he is going to roll out, but it's been a week and he hasn't rolled out yet, so I should stop worrying. Duncan got Xander's old bed (top of a bunk bed) with the rails but we have not tried to get him to sleep there yet. We are planning to start putting his in the bed for his naps this weekend. We'll see how that goes - I expect he will climb out.

Halloween is also this weekend and we have parties and trick-or-treating planned.

Going batty

This evening we went to the Halloween Carnival at Bowie High School. The various school clubs set up booths and have games you can play to win candy. Xander and Duncan had a pretty good time, but ran out of patience with things very soon. Tina and I were also tired from painting our master bedroom (we took the day off to get it done).

Tina made bat costumes for the whole family. They were a big hit at the carnival, but I'm not sure if it was the costumes or just how cute the boys were... :)

From now on, I want all my food in cupcake form!

Duncan has been asking "cupcake?" every time we sit down to a meal. We probably brought it on ourselves by making banana muffins and feeding him some (and encouraged him to call them cupcakes). We're out of banana muffins now, and he still asks for cupcakes, so what to do?

Tina's answer: Meatloaf cupcakes with mashed potato frosting.

I gotta say, they were pretty darn tasty. Everyone liked them!

Haven't blogged in awhile

Bheesh and I were sick after Serenity.

We bought a new bed for Xander. Duncan will get Xander's current bed. We are waiting for it to be delivered.

Xander still will not poop on the potty. He insists on a diaper. He will get the diaper when it is time, pull off his pants and underwear, pull on the diaper and I even make him sit on the toilet until he is done, but he will NOT go poop unless the diaper is on. We've tried everything we can think of including bribing him. Nothing works. I guess we will just have to wait until he decides he wants to.

We went to the mall to get portraits of the boys taken. Most of the professional pictures I have of them are from the winter (around their B-days) and they are all dressed up and well groomed. I decided I wanted a picture that more truly represents who they are. So, they are tan from the summer and I have not had their hair cut since R&R's wedding. Duncan had a blast. He wanted to do whatever this Chetta was doing and he cracked up for every picture, so his mouth is wide open. I'm going to pick them up tomorrow.

Then we all got a stomach virus starting with Duncan. There was puking all around the house. Xander has his first big boy vomit in the toilet and the bucket (unlike baby Duncan who puked in his crib and on his parents). He was so sad and shakey and pale looking, but he sat with me in front on the toilet for about 30 minutes until he was done. I think he fell asleep at one point with his head on my shoulder. We are all staring to feel better.

I still need to put out my Halloween decorations (gravestones with "Tina" and "Bheesh" carved into them - ha ha ha (evil laugh)) and think about carving pumpkins. After I pick up Duncan from daycare, we pass a place that sells pumpkins and he always says "Punkins!" so I think we will enjoy the jack-o-lanterns this year. I'm debating letting/making Duncan's wear his Halloween hood/hat/ear holder for a bit each day so he gets used to it so he will wear it for Halloween. I'm afraid he will keep pulling it off if he is not used to it.

I also need to finish designing my Christmas cards, but I'm having trouble getting motivated in the evenings when the boys are asleep.

Can't wait until Thanksgiving when Grandma and Grandpa get here.

Is that enough of an update for ya?

"Can I say..."

Tonight while we were driving home from dinner, Xander was in the back seat babbling and kept repeating something about "Poopoo snacks". We told him it wasn't nice to say "poopoo snacks". He then asked "Can I say booby snacks?", to which Tina replied no. Then he went on to "Can I say nipple snacks?" at which point I had to answer because Tina was trying very hard not to crack up. I said, "You can say Scooby snacks." That seemed to satisfy him for a while.

On the other hand, last night he asked "May I have some more zucchini please?" which is something I never expected to hear! :)

Road Rash

A few days ago, we were playing out in the cul-de-sac with the neighborhood kids. A couple of the girls were driving around a toy motorized jeep and Xander and Dalton were chasing it and holding on to the back while the girls drove around.

Duncan wanted to play like the big kids, but he can't run fast enough to keep up with the jeep. As a result, he got dragged down the street for about 10 feet before I managed to get the girls to stop (they didn't know he was holding on). Duncan's poor knees paid the price. He's still very tentative about them touching anything, preferring to "spider-walk" instead of crawl.
