Thanksgiving 2005

Tina's parents came down for Thanksgiving to visit with the boys. Grandma had a cold, so Grandpa and the boys went on a urban hike to Town Lake. We saw the Congress bridge and heard the bats. The boys were talking about bats the rest of the day.

For the big day itself, I brined and smoked a turkey in my Big Green Egg. My favorite part of the meal was the gravy which I made inspired by a recipe I found. I used whole wheat flour instead of white flour and dark beer instead of wine. This had some interesting effects because the gravy tasted like cheese foundue!

We also got Grandma hooked on Sudoku. This will go down as the Thanksgiving of Sudoku!
